Unlocking Multiple Objects at Once

Has anyone gotten a Notebook file off of the SMART Exchange and the creator was apparently “lock happy”? You wanted to make changes to the many objects that were locked on the page, so you clicked on one locked object, clicked on the lock symbol, and clicked unlock. Then you went on to the next object you wanted to unlock and did the same, and then to the next, and so on. The reason for having to unlock each individually is because Notebook will not allow you to marquee select locked objects. However, when you want to unlock several objects at once, you can simply click on “edit” in the menu bar, then click “select all locked notes”. Then you just click on the lock icon (the drop down handle of any selected object that has a little lock on it instead of a black triangle) and select unlock, or hit the Ctrl key and the K key on your keyboard simultaneously. Such a time saver!

Kindle and SMART Board

Countless times I have had teachers tell me that their students teach them how to use their SMART Board interactive whiteboards, SMART Response systems, SMART slates, or other various pieces of technology that are integrated into the classroom. Getting the students to read can be difficult sometimes, but using your Kindle and your SMART Board together is a great way to address that issue. Today’s students are digital natives and research has shown that they learn better with integrated technology when it is used effectively.

If you have a Kindle you can download the free Kindle for PC app (or Kindle for Mac) from Amazon.com. The app allows you to access your Kindle library on your computer and SMART Board. You can project the text on your SMART Board, make notes with the digital ink layer, capture notes and text, and save it in a SMART Notebook file. Keep in mind that you can use your floating toolbar to spotlight, magnify, highlight, underline, etc.

Dragging and Dropping Backgrounds in The SMART Table Toolkit

Did you know that you can create a background in SMART Notebook software and drag it to the SMART Table Toolkit (as long as you have Table Toolkit 2.0)? Create your background in Notebook and simply drag the thumbnail from the Page Sorter to the background section in the application you are creating or editing within the Toolkit.

Summer PD

Hello All,

I have had several requests for summer PD. So, here is what I have so far:

July 18th: SMART Response Training

July 25th: SMART Table Training

I am open to adding one or two more days depending on the requests/feedback we get. Let me know if there is some other SMART product/software you would like to see training offered for. If there are enough requests, I may add that as well.

Registration for the Response and Table Training will be posted on our website soon.

Training options

Hello All,

Well this year has been flying by and I have not slowed down much since this summer. Just an update that I am offering SMART Response training at our Conway facility on November 17th. I am looking at offering another training after Christmas. If there is a program in particular that you want to gain experience with, just let me know and I may choose to offer that training.

I am also toying with the idea of setting up a user group for all the SMART Board users in the central part of the state. We could meet once a month and communicate anytime electronically, sharing ideas, examples, etc. More to come....

Summer update

Summer PD is filling up quickly. However, I still have several days available. If you are wanting training in August, just FYI, I am booked through the 18th.

It is going to be a very busy summer for us at Video Reality in Arkansas. The guys are installing several SMART boards/products. It's awesome to see this wonderful technology going into schools to help students learn. If you need training, let me know, and we can try to fit you in.

Also, for our tech show this past April we hosted SMART Response training here at our facility in Conway. If I can get enough requests from individuals, we can host a training here again.
